Howard’s Restaurant, an LBI Tradition

At Howard’s, chef Kevin Sparks has fashioned a menu that marries the past with the present. Classics like broiled and fried seafood platters stay true to tradition, while contemporary specials showcase his creativity using local, sustainable ingredients.

Howard’s, overlooking Southwick’s Marina, offers our guests an opportunity to dine in a resort casual atmosphere while surrounded by a pictorial history of Long Beach Island dating back to the turn of the 19th century.

The menu at Howard’s offers seashore classics like crab cakes, lobster bisque and fried seafood combinations. Signature dishes and chef specialties include our famous French Fried Lobster, orange-miso glazed scallops, pecan crusted flounder, and Bouillabaisse.

Howard’s serves dinner 7 nights a week seasonally. Reservations are not accepted, but feel free to call for current hours of operation or any other information you might need. We are a smoke-free restaurant and handicap accessible.

Meet the Man in the Kitchen

Chef Kevin Sparks is the third generation of Sparks men to helm the kitchen at Howard’s Restaurant (Howard Sparks was his paternal grandfather). A life long resident of Long Beach Island, chef Kevin honed his skills as a chef growing up in the industry.

His award winning clam chowder is a favorite at the annual Chowder Fest held by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, and he has received nods from Philadelphia Magazine for French Fried Lobster.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Drew University, but finds restaurant life to be the perfect marriage of his passions for cooking seafood and life at the beach.
